White Card NSW: Online Rules, Cost and Providers
In NSW you need a white card (CPCWHS1001) for construction work, from labourers to site managers. SafeWork NSW does not permit self-paced online learning, and live video classes need its separate approval. Training runs at least 6 hours and you must be 14 or older. The card goes void after two years without construction work.

NSW (SafeWork NSW): a white card is required for construction work including site managers, supervisors, surveyors, labourers and tradespeople, and for people who access operational construction zones without direct supervision by an inducted person.
Source: www.safework.nsw.gov.auNSW: the white card becomes void if you have not carried out construction work for two consecutive years or more (WHS Regulation clause 316, per SafeWork NSW). Must be at least 14 to take the training.
Source: www.safework.nsw.gov.auNSW recognises general construction induction cards issued by all other States and Territories (including Queensland white and blue cards, and WA cards issued after 1 July 2009) provided they remain valid in the issuing jurisdiction. Construction workers can work in NSW using cards issued by other States and Territories.

White Card NSW questions answered
Can you do a white card online in NSW?
Not as a self-paced course. SafeWork NSW conditions say training is delivered face-to-face by a nominated trainer and that distance and online learning are not permitted. Live virtual classes (real time connected delivery, up to 10 people) are only allowed where SafeWork NSW has approved them separately, so check before you book.
How long is a white card course in NSW?
At least 6 hours, with up to 20 people in a classroom.
Does a NSW white card expire?
There is no expiry date, but the card becomes void if you have not done construction work for two consecutive years or more (WHS Regulation clause 316). After that you redo the course.
How do I replace a lost white card in NSW?
If your details have not changed, replace it online through Service NSW, paying by Mastercard or Visa. The new card is posted and a digital card shows in the Service NSW app. The SafeWork NSW 2026-27 fees page lists $43, or $36 when done online.
How long does a NSW white card take to arrive?
SafeWork NSW issues the card after your RTO applies. Your statement of training is valid for 60 days while you wait, and most cards are issued in under 30 days. Call SafeWork NSW on 13 10 50 if yours has not arrived.
How old do you need to be to get a white card in NSW?
You must be at least 14 to take the training.
Can I work in NSW with a white card from another state?
Yes. NSW recognises general construction induction cards from every other state and territory, including Queensland white and blue cards and WA cards issued after 1 July 2009, as long as they are still valid where they were issued.
