FIFO and mining jobs

FIFO jobs in Australia: where to apply

The most direct way to find FIFO and mining jobs is to apply on the miners’ own careers pages and search the big job boards. Below are 34 employer careers pages, 4 job boards, and guides for people starting out. We list where to look, not live vacancies.

Careers links last checked 6 October 2026. Companies are listed alphabetically, not ranked.

Each card links to the company’s own careers page. Filter by commodity to see who mines gold, iron ore, coal, lithium and more.

FIFO jobs from Perth: Perth-headquartered miners (16)

These companies list Perth as their head office. A Perth head office does not guarantee a Perth point of hire, so check each job ad for where flights leave from. For flights out of Perth and the employers that name Perth as a point of hire, see FIFO jobs from Perth. For WA regions and sites, read our guide to mining jobs in WA.

Job boards for mining and FIFO roles

These general Australian job sites list roles from many employers. Search for a job title such as “mining” or “FIFO” plus a location. Homepages opened and confirmed on 10 October 2026.

  • SEEK

General Australian job board. Search for the role you want, then narrow by location.

  • Indeed Australia

Job search site with an Australian version. Search by job title and location.

  • Jora

Australian job search site. Search by job title and location.

  • Workforce Australia

The Australian Government's site. It says any Australian can use it to search and apply for jobs.

Contractors and labour hire

Not every FIFO job is with the mine owner. Many roles are filled by contractors and labour hire firms that supply workers to a mine, so the name on the job ad may not be the company that runs the site.

When you read an ad, check who the employer is, where you will work and what roster applies. Job boards are where most contractor and labour hire ads appear. Ask the employer, not a third party, for the pay, roster and ticket requirements before you accept.

Our guide to mining recruitment agencies lists agencies that place mining and FIFO workers, with what each one says it recruits for.

Start here if you have no experience

Entry roles exist but are not guaranteed. These guides cover how people get started and which tickets employers ask about.

FIFO jobs by city

Where FIFO workers from each city fly to, the mining regions those flights serve and the employers whose ads name the city as a point of hire.

Jobs by state

Mining work looks different in each state. Read the state guide for the regions, employers and tickets that apply.

Pay

Pay depends on the role, the employer and the roster. See our salary pages and calculator for what we can support with sources.

Frequently asked questions

What does FIFO mean?

FIFO means fly-in fly-out. Workers travel to a remote site for a block of work, then travel home. Our guide to FIFO work explains rosters and what the work involves.

Where do I apply for FIFO jobs?

Apply on the employer's own careers page, or search a general job board such as SEEK, Indeed Australia, Jora or Workforce Australia. This page links to 34 mining company careers pages.

Which mining companies are listed here?

34 mining companies are listed. 10 mine gold, 6 iron ore, 10 coal and 6 lithium. Companies that mine more than one commodity appear under each.

Which mining companies are based in Perth?

16 of the 34 companies listed here give Perth as their headquarters: Bellevue Gold, Capricorn Metals, Fortescue, Genesis Minerals, Hancock Iron Ore, IGO, Iluka Resources, Liontown Resources, Lynas Rare Earths, Mineral Resources, Northern Star Resources, PLS Group, Ramelius Resources, Regis Resources, South32, Westgold Resources. A head office in Perth does not mean every job flies out of Perth, so check the job ad for the point of hire.

Are FIFO jobs always with the mining company?

No. Many roles are filled by contractors and labour hire firms working for the mine owner. The job ad should say who the employer is, so check it before you apply.

Can I get a FIFO job with no experience?

Some entry-level roles exist, but there is no guarantee of one, and each employer sets its own requirements. Read our guide to mining jobs with no experience, then apply through the employer's careers page.

How current are the careers page links?

Each link was checked on 6 October 2026. Open roles change often, so use the careers page itself to see what is open now.
