  • Narrabri Mine is an underground thermal coal mine 17 km south-east of Narrabri and 70 km north-west of Gunnedah. Whitehaven holds 77.5% and three other parties hold 7.5% each. About 500 people work there, and it is approved for 11.0 Mt of run-of-mine coal a year through 2044.

  • Maules Creek Mine is an open cut thermal coal mine 45 km south-east of Narrabri. Whitehaven holds 75%, Itochu 15% and J Power 10%. It has a workforce of about 700 and is approved for 13 Mt of run-of-mine coal a year. Production started in 2015.

  • Tarrawonga Mine is an open cut mine 16 km north-east of Boggabri in the Gunnedah Coal Basin. It is 100% owned by Whitehaven and produces thermal and semi-soft coking coal for export. The workforce is 180 and it is approved for 3.5 Mt of run-of-mine coal a year. Mining began in 2006.
